Lilypie Premature Baby tickers

Meet our Family!

This blog originally started as a way to keep our family and friends updated on the progress of my bedrest, and then later our new baby's progress in the NICU. I have recently discovered that I have lots of readers that I don't know which means they probably don't know us! I thought it'd be nice to introduce ourselves to them since they are so kind as to read up on our family everyday! I'll make changes to this as needed. :)

The Mama: I'm Christa, the writer of this blog. I'm the mama of the house. I'm 25 and mama to two beautiful girls! I'm very outgoing, sarcastic and a bit neurotic. I'm absolutely passionate about breastfeeding, birth, women's health and having knowledge of said health, and equal rights for everyone. I try to be green, am not always as successful as I'd like to be though! I enjoy reading, cooking, being with my children, spending time with my husband, laughing with my friends, swimming, shopping...the normal mama things. I'm incredibly lucky to have an amazing husband who is willing to work very hard so that I can stay at home with our children! I also write a blog about breastfeeding with two of my closes friends called The Good Letdown. Go check it out!! :)

The Daddy: This is Shane, my husband. He's 31 and daddy to our beautiful girls! I don't know what's up with the lack of recent pictures. I guess once you have children, you no longer have pictures of just you. This is from our wedding and I'm sure he hates it but I love this picture of him. It shows his goofy side, which we see a little TOO often ;-). Shane is also really outgoing, talks way too much, is generally sensitive to others feelings and is an amazing father. He is a very devoted daddy to our girls and I love it! He's a car guy, enjoys wood working and working with his hands in general. He is very into stereo stuff as well as computers and technology in general. He has a much fancier phone then I do and I couldn't even begin to try and work it.

The Princess: Olivia is 2 and has recently decided she is a pretty princess. When I ask her if she's my Sunshine she now informs me that Ella is my Sunshine but that she is my princess. Hence the fact that she is "The Princess". Olivia loves Mickey Mouse, Elmo, coloring, computers (sigh), playing at the park, her friends, her cousin Kyra, playing pretend, animals, the zoo...pretty much any and all things that most two year olds like. She loves her new baby sister and talks about her all the time. Olivia also loves pizza. Wait, maybe I should have said she L-O-V-E-S pizza. She asks for it daily. Too bad mommy and daddy don't give in to everything she asks for!

The Sunshine: This is Ella and she is currently 5 weeks old (34.5 weeks gestation). She was born at 29 weeks and is in the NICU at Children's Hospital. She had an extremely rough start but has been fighting her way up. We are told by the nurses that she doesn't know she's a preemie. :) It's been a rollercoaster but we know that she'll be home soon and our little family will finally all be together under ONE roof! She likes sleeping, breastfeeding, and playing this game with the nurses where she destats until they walk up to her incubator and then brings her numbers back up to normal. It's her most favorite game.
